Cheryl Hall's Biography
A native of Santa Barbara, Cheryl Hall began her piano studies at age 6. Her classical training has been with Dr. Leo Podolsky, concert artist and former faculty member of the Sherwood School of Music, Chicago; Kevin Fitz-Gerald, USC Chair of Collaborative Piano; and jazz studies with Jeffrey Lavner, Co-Chair Piano Department, The Colburn School. Her most recent solo recitals have been held at Mayman Hall at The Colburn School of Performing Arts.
Ms. Hall has maintained a piano studio for over 25 years and has taught at Polytechnic School, Mayfield Junior School and the After School Music Conservatory in Pasadena. She is an active member of the Music Teachers Association (MTA), Pasadena, California Branch, the California Association of Professional Music teachers and the Committee of Professional Women of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, where she currently serves on its Board.
With the Los Angeles Music Center, she has served for 13 years as Director of the Corwin Master Classes, where she worked with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in developing a tuition-free program for aspiring young musicians in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and throughout Southern California. The Los Angeles Philharmonic musicians were brought to Santa Barbara to conduct the program of the Arlington Theatre, sponsored by the Music Center Education Division and the Corwin Foundation.
Ms. Hall currently maintains a studio in the Los Angeles area and in Santa Barbara at the Music Academy of the West.
